Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does the eXact software do?

A: The eXact software provides users with special offers and coupons at times when they are most likely to be receptive to them - potentially saving hundreds of dollars per year. Some versions of the software also help you find the things you are looking for by directing you to your intended site or by providing you with relevant search results when you have mistyped the URL in the address bar and would normally receive a '404 Page Not Found' result. eXact may also occasionally provide you with additional search results related to the topics you search for or web sites you visit.

Q: What does eXact cost?

A: eXact is offered FREE to the user in exchange for the user's agreement to receive relevant advertising.

Q: How often will I see eXact special offers?

A: eXact's intent is to offer only very selective, special, and relevant offers based upon web sites you visit and topics on which you search. eXact maintains frequency caps on the number of offers shown to its users to provide a positive web experience, averaging only three offers per day.

Q: How did I get eXact software on my computer?

A: You received the eXact software either by downloading the product directly from the Internet, or by downloading a popular free software product with which we are sometimes bundled (games, file sharing, etc.). eXact software allows consumers to enjoy a variety of free Web site content and free software applications that deliver a service or information in exchange for permission to display eXact special offers, coupons, and advertising messages.

In order to download the eXact software, either alone or bundled with popular free software, eXact requires informed consent from the user. It is not possible to get an authorized application installed on your system without going through an installation process in which users are given an opportunity to view a screen indicating that it is a eXact supported application and that users will receive ads to offset the cost of the free downloaded program.

Additionally, consumers must accept the eXact End User License Agreement and Privacy Policy before receiving eXact supported applications.

Q: Does eXact collect any personally identifiable information or "spy" on me?

A: eXact is NOT spyware! It does not collect any personally identifiable information about you or your surfing habits. eXact uses proprietary, privacy-protecting technology that applies ad-selection logic directly to Internet elements that the user has chosen to have on their desktop at that moment, such as words, URLs, search terms, etc.

Q: How can I tell a eXact offer from offers from individual websites?

A: All eXact offers are clearly labeled and appear in an independent browser window. This window is always outside any other windows that the user may be using to view sites or conduct other Internet activities.

Q: How can I uninstall eXact?

A: If you are not running an adware removal product

  • Go to your Start menu in the bottom left corner of your screen
  • Select either Settings/Control Panel, or just Control Panel
  • Select Add/Remove Programs
  • Scroll down to the name of the eXact software you installed and choose "Remove"

If you are running an adware removal product, you should stop using the adware removal product to uninstall The eXact software, as most of these products do not completely or properly remove our software. The most effective way to uninstall our product - and any legitimate piece of software - is via the Add/Remove Programs function of Windows.

For information requests, please fill out our contact form and we will contact you within two standard business days of submission. Thank you.
